Okinawa

The Longest Living People

Okinawans have the most people who live past the age of 100. They also have the least number of people who die from heart disease, cancer, and strokes, which are the most prevalent US killers. Genetics, environment, and lifestyle choices increase their health and longevity.

Diet

There are key differences between the Okinawa and American diets. American diets consist of more grains than any other food group and there is very little fish. In an Okinawa diet, vegetables and grains have the same amount of servings. Fish is also much more valued and it is more readily available.

Okinawans eat fewer calories so they have lower levels of free radials.
They also have healthier bone
health, and their bone density decreases much more slowly than other people.

Okinawans have higher levels of estrogen and testosterone. This helps with maintaining muscle mass and the prevention of diseases.
Women
Women deal with menopause differently than here in the US. They use exercise and a high soy diet instead of estrogen replacement therapy.

Positivity
Okinawans tend to have a  better attitude about life which leaves them less stressed. Less stress benefits overall health.
